Part-Time Job Opening

After-School Art Instructor (for Elementary school-aged students)

Hours:

(2 positions) 15 - 20 hours per week per class; must be available Monday through Thursday, 3 pm to 5:30 pm, and Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.


(1 position) 8 hours per week, Fridays, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.


(Multiple positions) Substitute call list.


Pay: $17/hour and free tuition for your kids to attend After-School Art Classes.

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

The Painted Sky Center for the Arts’ mission is to advance arts education, entertainment, enhancing the quality of life, and promoting cultural development in the community. Through its programs, the Painted Sky is a dynamic organization that empowers and transforms individuals through creative education and experience. While one does not need to be an artist to apply, individuals who possess a love of the arts and passion for creative community building are good candidates for a position at the Painted Sky Center for the Arts. .

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Our organization is seeking experienced, enthusiastic, and creative individuals to teach youth art skills in after-school classes for elementary and middle school students.  The ideal candidate has experience teaching youth in one or more of the following specialized content areas: painting, writing, theater, journalism, photography, film editing, dance, and/or sports/recreation. In addition, our organization seeks a teacher who can successfully infuse art literacy into class curricula.

INSTRUCTOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow lesson plans designed for each class.

  • Help prepare and put away classroom materials. 

  • Participate in training sessions throughout the year and staff meetings. 
  • Assist in evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and work ethic.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development throughout the year.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with our organization’s policies and procedures, and laws pertaining to the operation of the Painted Sky Center for the Arts after school youth program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or high school seniors with interest in an education career.

  • A passion for our mission and a commitment to providing young people with the highest quality art experience.

  • Ability to engage with youth and build meaningful relationships with them.
  • Creativity and interest in instructing hands-on projects for youth.
  • Must have a CPR card or willingness to obtain one. 
  • Must pass a background check.
