The intermediary drawing class will review some of the topics taught in the beginning drawing class before moving on to new subject matter, such as composition and design elements. Perspective and figure proportions will be touched upon. The intermediary student should have some experience working in graphite and charcoal and have access to a “T” square and a set of triangles – a 45 45 90 angle of degrees and one 30 60 90 degree angles. Also, a medium size compass – (the kind used in school with a pencil). This last item is not mandatory but helpful. Also, a roll of masking tape as well as the same materials required for the beginning drawing class (see materials list below).

Teacher Biography: Robert Rex
I am a retired art teacher. I taught for 30 years at the high school level and for 10 years (two nights a week) at the junior college level. I also taught adult education classes at Visalia Unified School District in Visalia, CA. Also, I taught drawing at the local prison for two years (one night per week). I started my art education at Fresno State University, then, later on, I transferred to Art Center, College of Design. From Art Center I transferred to Long Beach State University where I got my bachelors degree. I then moved to the Chico CA area and got my teaching credential. Then I moved to Visalia CA and started teaching art at Mt. Whitney High School. After teaching for ten years at Mt Whitney, I was hired to teach a basic drawing class for the College of the Sierra's (a two-year college)- this in addition to my daytime duties teaching at Mt. Whitney. I retired in 2000 and moved to the John Day area where I have taught a few art classes in my studio.

Materials list (to be provided by the student) is below. Recommend using  https://www.jerrysartarama.com or https://www.dickblick.com or another art-specific website to shop, NOT Amazon or general retailers. This will help ensure you are ordering the correct supplies.
